I’ve long thought about Emin’s output along similar lines. I had no idea what the fuss around her was all about.
I’ve had ‘experts’ implore that I ‘just listen to what she’s saying’ but for whatever that’s worth , I can’t get beyond seeing the confused, inept, slapdash, lazy messes she exhibits.
With an artist, if I can't see what the hullaballoo is about, I'm always willing to read or listen to some admirer's explanation, but with TE it comes back to her 'suffering' life, again and again. Like you, I need a bit more art, a bit less me, me, me. It's absurd to think museums have put this stuff alongside Munch & Schiele.
